Welcome to Hollywood California!
The early history of Hollywood, as all of southern California, was linked with Spain. During the 1800s, it was a center for pineapple cultivation and later became a fashionable winter resort. The film industry had its beginnings here around 1911 and was home to the legendary directors Cecil B. DeMille and D.W.Griffith. Throughout most of the 20th century, Hollywood has been the location of the great American movie studios Disney, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal and others. Although there has been some relocation in the industry, it remains the hub for movie and TV production. Many Hollywood homes and commercial buildings retain the architectural styles of Spanish Colonial and Art Décor.
