 The Kingdom of Thailand – old Siam – is now the number one tourist destination in southeastern Asia and there is a reason for this.  Thailand literally has something for everyone – fine beaches, sports, glittering nightspots, fine food, museums, and verdant tropical mountains. To visit the various sites of interest is easy in Thailand with inexpensive flights inside the country and an efficient bus network. There is a wide selection of transportation services inside the cities. Thailand enjoys various festivals, many related to Buddhist rituals and agriculture. In May the King initiates the rice season in a planting ceremony in Bangkok. In Surin in November you can view an elephant roundup. In November the famous Loi Krathong Festival takes place with candle floats being set adrift to bring good luck. A wide selection of accommodations can be found to suit any budget. Thailand is wonderful anytime, but visitors should be aware that July into November is monsoon season. Because of this, many tourists prefer to visit during the other months.
