First sighted by Columbus in 1502, visitors are drawn to St. Lucia’s mountainous landscape and scenic valleys with their splashes of hibiscus, bougainvillea and oleander.
South of the capital Castries, one can visit the fuming volcano of Soufriere with its boiling streams and jets of sulfurous steam. Nearby are the twin peaks of Petit Piton (2461 ft.) and Gros Piton (2619 ft.).
St. Lucia’s harbors are a favorite with yachtsmen. Swimmers will enjoy the beaches on the west coast and hikers the trek up the Pitons or on the numerous trails in the interior of the island through plantations of coconut, bananas, and sugar cane.
A selection of fine lodgings and restaurants assures the traveler of a pleasant stay.
Mostly you can find better deals for this hotels on the internet than with your local travel agent.
