Palma with its 325,000 inhabitants, about half of the total population of the island, extends some 9 miles parallel to the sea and is the seat of the autonomous Balearic Island government.

Getting Around en Mallorca

Most visitors of Mallorca arrive at the international airport Son Sant Joan located 5 miles from Palma . Visitors can use either the shuttle service into Palma or a taxi. In Palma walking is the preferred way to view much of the city. Motorbikes are available if desired. Jet Ferries connect Mallorca with regular service to Barcelona, Valencia, and Denia. The trip takes 3 hours. You can also enjoy the luxury of a regular ferry service.
