The island of Ibizia, named for the predominant white color of its buildings, has gained international fame as a cosmopolitan tourist island, especially known for its nude beaches and rousing night-life. Little colonies of     “hippies” can be found around the island living their special life-style. Nevertheless, there is much for other tourists to enjoy, especially if one is aware of the history of the island that was founded in 654 B.C. by Carthage and later occupied by Rome. 

Getting Around on Ibizia

Most visitors arrive via air from Spain or various European cities. There are flights connecting Ibizia with Mallorca and Menorca. Ibizia has sea connections with Barcelona (9+ hours) and Valencia (6+hours) as well as with the other Balearic Islands. During the summer, there is a fast-ferry that connects Ibizia-Valencia in 3 hours. Ibizia has excellent roads and an efficient bus service covering the island. Rental cars and taxis are available.
