Singapore

Welcome to Singapore.

This former British colonial outpost of 4 ½ million became an independent republic in 1965 and today is an economic powerhouse of the region. Singapore with shipping, banking, electronics, and tourism as its economic mainstays.

Though small, 692 K2, Singapore is very diverse with a population 76% Chinese and the remainder Malay and Indian. It is the contradiction arising from this ethnic diversity and transformation to a single modern state that is so appealing to tourists. Visitors will find Singapore a very safe city – punishment for crime is very severe here.

In Singapore's Chinatown Rickshaws are still seen. A must for visitors of Singapore is Sentosa Island, site of large parts, beaches, and resorts. Singapore’s Zoological and Botanical Gardens are among Asia’s finest.

For trendy shops, restaurants and bars in Singapore, Orchard Rd. is the place to go!

Singapore – a high-tech state with vestiges of its colonial past!
