If arriving by air to Singapore, you will enter through Singapore Changi International Airport, considered to be one of the best in Asia. Trains, buses, and taxis will convey you the 12 miles into the city. Within the city of Singapore, getting around is easy by bus, subway, or taxi. Rental cars are available. If you wish to ride in a Rickshaw, they are still found in Chinatown. For a trip on the Singapore River, sampans are available. To go over the border from Singapore to Malaysia, you can just take a taxi or bus. Singapore is very safe for the visitor – crime is punished very severely here. Be aware there are substantial fines for littering and smoking in forbidden areas.
