Welcome to Teotihuacán – the City of Gods!

The region of Teotihuacan is an amazing archeological area situated 31 miles to the north of Mexico City.  This city also called "City of Gods" revolves around the Avenue of the Dead.  It was one of the largest cities back in the ancient period in the year of 750 a.d. and it had over a thousand inhabitants by then.

Many remarkable monuments from its history still stand  including the "Pyramid of the sun" and the "Pyramid of the Moon".  It was a city of numerous structures and very organized regarding the architectural analysis.  During that time, some farmers lived in colorful decorated stone houses while others lived in wooden houses.  It is said that in about ten years some more information about this ancient city will be known.

 The Pyramid of the Sun This great and amazing pyramid measures over 700ft. and about 213 ft tall.  This pyramid's first layers, from a Pre-Columbian era, was built over a natural cave that was utilized as a shrine by the so called Teotihuacanos.  When the Pyramid of the Sun was rebuilt it had removed ten meter from the exterior of the North, South and East façades.

 The Pyramid of the Moon In the northern side of the Avenue of the Dead, you will discover this astonishing pyramid that takes over 194,000 square feet and about 138 feet tall.  This incredible architectural structure includes 6 buildings stages.  In the south part façade you will encounter a well preserved structure in the plaza.  In the west side you will discover the lovely and enchanting palace of the Quetzal-Butterfly.
