Puebla
Puebla, a Mexican city keeping its Hispanic origins, was founded in 1531 and first named 'Ciudad de los Ángeles' (City of the angels); some years later this name was changed to 'Puebla de los Ángeles' and nowadays, it is called just 'Puebla.' It offers more than 70 churches and the majority of its buildings are richly adorned with a Mexican version of the Spanish baroque.

The cathedral is one of the most fascinating colonial jewels of the city and the second biggest of the country but with the highest towers. Nearby in downtown you can find the House of Culture with an interesting sculpture garden, offering outdoors theater and the oldest library of America, the Palafoxiana Library, a former seminar.

The Amparo Museum is the best museum of Puebla and keeps a wide collection of pre-Columbian elements. The 'Casa de los Muñecos' (House of the dolls), a part of the University of Puebla, has a very beautiful tile façade. The preferred tourist market is called 'Parian' merchandizing all types of crafts, such as the beautiful pottery 'Talavera', a typical piece of this area.

Another characteristic of Puebla is the diversity of sweets; sold in abundance in the shops of 6 Oriente St., such as sweet potatoes, milk biscuits, 'borrachitos', etc.

Among all the beauty of buildings in Puebla, the church of Santo Domingo is to be mentioned; it is the pride of the religious architecture of the town with its Chapel of the Rosario, showing a lot of golden decorations apparently made of pure gold plates.
