Mexicos top locations are : Acapulco, Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Palaya del Carmen, Manzanillo, Mexico city, Guadalajara and the Archelogical Ruins. Mexico is limited by the United States to the north and by Guatemala and Belize to the south. Being along with Canada and The United States part of North America, it is facing the Atlantic Ocean in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. Comprising a surface of 1,972,547 square kilometers, it has the largest peninsula of the world called "Baja California".
Mexico is a Federal Republic, divided into 31 states and a Federal District. The capital city is Mexico City with more or less 25 million inhabitants. Other important and big cities of interest are Guadalajara and Monterrey. According to the census of 1995, the total population of Mexico consists of more than 91,2 million inhabitants and can be described like mostly crossbred; a native minority is distributed all along the country and a great native ethnic and language variety exists in Mexico. The main language is Spanish, but approximately 7 million people speak more or less 50 other native dialects in the whole country, from which a 15% don't speak Spanish. English is no common language in Mexico, but many Mexicans speak at least a little bit or understand a few words, especially near the border. Mexico City
Weather in Mexico With the tropic of cancer crossing Mexico in Mazatlán and Tampico the climate to the south of the tropic is hot and in the coastal areas of Atlantic and Pacific Ocean humid. In the inland the weather is drier and warm, especially in high cities such as Mexico City and Guadalajara, where you can even find the highest tops of the mountains covered with snow. Compared with the coasts, where the hot weather hardly changes, the climate is less hot and colder. The seasons do not differ very much; in Mexico the hottest and most humid period occurs between May and October, the wettest and most rainy season happens between June and September and in December, January and part of February some climate like winter appears. The north of Mexico is characterized by extreme temperatures, especially in the states of Nuevo Leon and Chihuahua, where summertime seems unbearable and wintertime is cold, even snowing in some areas. You will find varied climate conditions in the peninsula of Baja California. Tijuana for example has a warm, very similar climate to that of California (United States), meanwhile Mexicali is so hot, that you prefer nightlife, to prevent suffocation. La Paz and Cape San Lucas are very hot and wet. The south of Mexico shows mostly in beach areas high temperatures. That is the case of Cancun, where the hot weather in summer causes lethargy, meanwhile San Cristóbal de las Casas (Chiapas), a city located in the middle of the sierra, has a colder and drier climate. Don't worry about the common electric storms and hurricanes, especially during the rainy seasons. We recommend to get informed about weather conditions in Mexico before traveling. |
