Shinjuku, actually a part of the greater Tokyo metropolis, is home to a mammoth shopping and entertainment district that is centered around Shinjuku Station. To the west of the station is the Skyscraper District, site of many government buildings, offices, and deluxe hotels. To the northeast of the station, is the famous Kabukicho, Japan’s largest red light and entertainment area. Here also are gargantuan department stores, malls, and electronic stores. Two large parks afford a place of relaxation away from the bustle of the city. Shinjuku – a must for any visit to Japan!
